What is the first step to becoming an Electrician Apprentice?

-Get a job with a Participating Contractor (as only they can enroll you in the apprenticeship program).
What does it cost?
The only cost to the student is the cost for books.
Who are the Teachers?
They are journeyman and master electricians.
Where are the classes held?
At MTC (Marion Technical College), 1614 SE Fort King Street, Ocala, FL 34471. Contact Earl Scott MTC School Coordinator at (352) 671-4765 for additional information about the school.
How long is the apprenticeship?
This is a 4 year Indentured Apprenticeship. In order to complete the program an apprentice must have 8,000 OJT (On the Job Training)
hours and have completed 8 semesters of schooling.
Are there any restrictions?
You must be physically capable of doing the job required. You must have a high school diploma or GED. The program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, ethnic status or national origin.
What is the FEA credit transfer policy?
The student records are kept on file. If you move to a new location your records can Be transferred to any approved apprenticeship program.
What is the rate of pay and how do I advance?
You are paid based on the rate of Journeyman’s pay (whatever the prevailing scale is at the time).
